By Professors Tzeng Chii-Ruey, Luk Rombauts, Tasuku Harada and Yutaka Osuga
The annual general meeting of the Japan Society of Endometriosis (JSE) in January will feature a joint web seminar with the World Endometriosis Society (WES).
Members are encouraged to participate in the program on the JES and WES websites. Topics will include:
• debate and commentary on current management of endometriosis-related infertility and pain;
• Endometriosis Surgery For Infertility Is Not As Good As One Would Think – presenter Professor Luk Rombauts, WES President;
Tasuku Harada (Japan) Yutaka Osuga (Japan)
• Endometriosis Surgery For Infertility Is Maybe Better Than One Would Think – Professor Neil Johnson, former WES president);
• Management of Endometriosis-related Infertility: Commentary on Japanese Guidelines and our Experiences – Professor Kaori Koga, Tokyo University; and
• Optimal Pharmacotherapy for Endometriosis Based on the Clinical Practice Guidelines in Japan – Professor Fuminori Taniguchi, Tottori University.
With a 40-year history and more than 700 members, our Society is unique. The JSE has contributed greatly to resolving clinical issues in endometriosis by providing a forum for experts to discuss salient and emerging topics. It has played a major role in facilitating world-class basic and clinical research.
However, we continue to face challenges. Despite the 100- year plus history of research, the aetiology of endometriosis remains unclear.
