President Baran’s Message As He Leaves Office
Thank you for all the support as my term ends. I have enjoyed representing Arizona State Society as the 96th President and wish the new leadership team all the success and accomplish- ments for the next year. With all
your support we have had a number of successful events:
—The Poston Grave 250th medallion in Florence, Arizona.
—The Celebration of the 125th Arizona State Society Meeting and the publishing of the genealogies of the first 25 members.
—The support of the Patriot Research System. —An Arizona effort to recognize all Veterans and branches of Military Service. A Veteran is someone who has been on active duty and has an honorable discharge from one of the eight uniformed services. When we show the logos it should include the USPHS and NOAA.
Why support this in Arizona? The Indian Health Service is a part of the USPHS and has over 900 officers assigned to providing the Native American Indians with health care. They operate a 1800 bed hospital in Phoenix and support clinics on all reservations. They deserved to be recognized also.
—C.A.R. support by including a letter of welcome in the Junior members packets signed by the Arizona State C.A.R. President.
—Constitution and Bylaw change to reduce the Secretary workload by having Membership and Corresponding Secretaries with individual work assignments.
However you are never able to accomplish everything that has been recommended so here is a list of needs for the next leadership group to consider.
—New Website program which is in progress. —Maintenance of PRS for new members is also in progress.
—Mentorship of new members by first line signers. —250th activities for 2022 both Society, SAR Chapters, DAR Chapters and the C.A.R. — Leadership and Congress attendance by officers. —New Eagle Scout Chair to request increase of 1st and 2nd State Prizes to equal the JROTC amounts. ($750, $500)
So again thank you for electing me to represent you this last year. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
Bill Baran,
Arizona Society President 2021-2022
