The history of the Moro Muslims in the Philippines is rife with savagery and massacres. During the
Marcos regime villages were burned, mosques with people inside bombed, and mass rapes perpe-
trated. Even today attacks and abuses still occur, and the conflict has been going on for years. All
the Moro Muslims want is peace and security, and to set up an independent state in which they
can live freely according to their religion.
