Sounds coming from the outside are converted by the middle and outer ear into fluid waves transmitted to
the inner ear. Following a series of processes, these waves are transmitted to the brain in the form of elect-
ric signals and are perceived as sounds in the brain. Therefore, sound on the outside exists for us only for
so long as we perceive it. Everything we hear is a product of these electric signals inside the brain.
