their transaction. But if they conceal anything and lie, the
blessing on their transaction will be blotted out." 37
Abdullah ibn Amr reported that the Messenger of Allah was
asked: "Who among men is the best?" He replied: "Everyone
who is pure of heart and truthful of tongue." They enquired:
"Truthful of tongue"—we know it. But what is "pure of
heart"? He said: He is pure and pious upon whom there is no
sin, transgression, deceit, or malice. 38
The Holy Prophet was asked about the means of attaining per-
fection. He replied: Truthfulness in talk and action with sin-
cerity. 39
"Give up what is doubtful to you for that which is not doubt-
ful, for truth is peace of mind and falsehood is doubt." 40
