Belief in the Last Day

Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipa-
tion, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will
close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon
all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on
the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is
about to happen... (Luke, 21:34-36)

But in those days, following that distress, the sun will be dark-
ened, and the moon will not give its light... (Mark, 13:24-25)

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief [all of a sudden].
The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be
destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid
bare... That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens
