be liev ers have nev er ex pect ed such a thing and, as a re sult,
have lost much. In or der to find an ex cuse for their re bel lious -
ness, they have dis re gard ed the truths an nounced by the pro -
phets in their search for some thing ex traor di na ry. The Lord
says that He could make these peo ple sub mit to Him with just
one mir a cle: "If We wished We could send down a Sign to

them from heav en, be fore which their heads would be bowed
low in sub jec tion" (Surat al-Shu'ara': 4). But all things hap pen
ac cord ing to what is re quired by the na ture of this world as a
place of test ing.
The mir a cles of our Prophet (saas) are a source of great joy
for all Muslims. They in crease the be liev ers' faith and cause
them to be more en thu si as tic in their at tach ment to the sub lime
