And in your creation and all the creatures He has spread
about, there are Signs for people with certainty. (Surat al-
Jathiyyah, 4)

With its large, upward-facing eyes, the hatchet fish is always aware of dan-
gers above it. But it also needs to be prepared for threats from beneath. The
phosphorus cells in its stomach area, which produce light, imitate the color
of the light coming from above. As a result, it is undetectable to the predators
below it.
