ally invades tomatoes and potatoes, on a large scale that can have
very serious effects. The great potato famine between 1845 and 1860
in Ireland was one consequence of this fungus. 95
Fungi can also invade the bodies of some animals. Most cause
disease, some can even lead to death. Some deliberately kill so as to
