Do you not see that everyone in the heavens and everyone on the earth
prostrates to Allah, and the sun and moon and stars and the moun-
tains, trees and beasts and many of mankind?... ( Surat al-Hajj: 18)
Everything in the heavens and every creature on the earth prostrates
to Allah, as do the angels. They are not puffed up with pride. (Surat
an-Nahl: 49)
This superstitious belief leads the Hindus to concoct irrational
myths on mountains and rivers according to which they have life and
