A Call for Unity
you unexpectedly, like a trap. For it will come upon all those who
live on Earth. (Luke, 21: 34-35)
... The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be de-
stroyed by fire, and Earth and everything in it will be laid bare...
That Day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire,
and the elements will melt in the heat. (2 Peter, 3: 10-12)
The Torah
For the Day of the Lord is near... The Sun and the Moon will be
darkened, and the stars no longer shine… the earth and the sky will
tremble … (Joel, 3: 14-16)
Before them the earth shakes, the sky trembles, the sun and moon are
darkened, and the stars no longer shine… The day of the Lord is
great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it? (Joel, 2: 10-11)
... the Day of the Lord is near; it will come like destruction from the
Almighty. Because of this, all hands will go limp, every person's
heart will melt... pain and anguish will grip them; they will writhe
like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at each other, their faces
aflame. See, the Day of the Lord is coming – a cruel day, with wrath
and fierce anger – to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners
within it. The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show
their light. (Isaiah, 13: 6-10)
"The great day of the Lord is near-near and coming quickly.. That
day will be a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of
trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and
blackness… The Lord says: I will bring distress on the people and
they will walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the
Lord. … Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them
on the day of the Lord's wrath. " (Zephaniah, 1: 14-18)
