history of Islam since very
early times and at the position
of Christians and Jews under
Islamic administration with an unbiased

eye will encounter one very obvious fact: The
People of the Book have always lived in peace and
security under Islamic rule. Indeed, Christians and
Jews who were persecuted under the rule of different
faiths and sects from time to time sought refuge in Islamic
lands and found the security they sought in Muslim coun-
tries. The main reason why the People of the Book were able to
live in such peace and comfort is that Muslims form their atti-
tudes and behavior toward the People of the Book according to

the moral values of the Qur'an.
