Under Ottoman rule, Jews, Christians, and Muslims lived as friends,
and the People of the Book were content with the Muslims' administra-
tion. This engraving depicts the prayer ceremony in the Ahida
Synagogue held for the Ottoman army's victory against the Russians.
The ceremony was attended by the grand vizier.
