NOT RUBBING A PAST FAVOR IN A PERSON’S FACE
Those who spend their wealth in the Way of God, and then do not
follow what they have spent by demands for gratitude or insulting
words will have their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear
and will know no sorrow. (Surat al-Baqarah, 262)
Correct and courteous words accompanied by forgiveness are better
than charity followed by insulting words. God is Rich Beyond
Need, All-Forbearing. (Surat al-Baqarah, 263)
You who believe! Do not nullify your charity by demands for grat-
itude or insulting words, like him who spends his wealth, showing
off to people and not believing in God and the Last Day. His like-
ness is that of a smooth rock coated with soil, which, when heavy
rain falls on it, is left stripped bare. They have no power over any-
thing they have earned. God does not guide disbelieving people.
The metaphor of those who spend their wealth, desiring the pleas-

rain does not fall, there is dew. God sees what you do. (Surat al-
Baqarah, 264-265)
Do not give out of a desire for gain. (Surat al-Mudathir, 6)

MEETINGS
You who believe! When you are told: ‘Make room in the gathering,’

said, ‘Get up’, get up. God will raise in rank those of you who
believe and those who have been given knowledge. God is aware
of what you do. (Surat al-Mujadilah, 11)
You who believe! Do not enter houses other than your own until
