274 The Glad Tidings of the Messiah (pbuh)

...[Khidr said,] I did not do it of my own volition… (Surat
                      al-Kahf, 82)

                      Gospel
By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment
is just, for I seek not to please myself but Him Who sent me. (John
                      5:30)

And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you
will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark
place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your
hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of
Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For
prophecy never had its origin in the will of man…. (2 Peter 1:19-
                      21)

                      Torah

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their broth-
ers; I will put My words in his mouth, and he will tell them every-
thing I command him. (Deuteronomy 18:18)

                         THE IMPERMANENCE OF THIS LIFE

The life of this world is nothing but a game and a diver-
sion. The abode of the Hereafter—that is truly Life, if they
                      only knew. (Surat al-'Ankabut, 64)

                      Gospel

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be over-
charged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and scares of this life,
