90     The Glad Tidings of the Messiah (pbuh)





                      "Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flow-
                      ing robes and love to be greeted in the marketplaces and have the
                      most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at
                      banquets. They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy
                      prayers. Such men will be punished most severely." (Luke 20:46-47)


































                      Some Jewish priests in the past had altered Torah's com-
                 mandments and added new ones to serve their own interest. The
                 Prophet Jesus (pbuh) invalidated these false commandments in his
                 quest to eradicate the erroneous traditions, myths, and man-made
                 rules and laws that had, in effect, caused the commandments re-
                 vealed to the Prophet Moses(pbuh) to be ignored. According to the
                 Gospel of Mark, the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) specifically mentioned
                 this to the Pharisees:
