68.2. The antichrist deceives people who have turned away from
religion by illusions:

The coming of the lawless one [antichrist] will be in accordance with
the work of satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs
and wonders... They perish because they refused to love the truth and
so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so
that they will believe the lie. (2 Thessalonians, 2:9-11)

And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to
come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. Because of the
signs he [antichrist] was given power to do on behalf of the first
beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth... (Revelation, 13:13-
14)

68.3. The antichrist influences all nations:

... He [antichrist] was given authority over every tribe, people, lan-
guage and nation. (Revelation, 13:7)

... The dragon [satan] gave the beast [antichrist] his power and his
throne and great authority... The whole world was astonished and
followed the beast. (Revelation, 13:2-3)

68.4. He draws support from countries' irreligious ideologies
and military forces:

Then I saw the beast [antichrist] and the kings of the earth and their
armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse
and his army [those who are subject to Allah]. (Revelation, 19:19)
