LIFE IN THE SOCIETY OF

                            IGNORANCE

n the earlier sections of this book, we mentioned that
the main difference between believers and disbeliev-
I ers is the formers’ awareness of Allah’s infinite
might. We also talked about how a believer who sincerely
believes in Allah’s existence must and does orient his en-
tire life to earn the approval of Allah.
One of the most significant characteristics of someone
who can appreciate Allah’s might and thus orients all his
deeds to earn Allah’s blessing is his steadfastness in earn-
ing the good pleasure and blessing of Allah at each mo-
ment of his life. Having his life focused on earning His
approval and being a servant to Him, he develops a dif-
ferent outlook on the universe, which he knows is created
and controlled by Allah. Since he considers Allah as the
only Deity, the false deities surrounding him lose their
             meaning.
In the Qur’an, this subject is stressed in the story of the
Prophet Abraham (as) as revealed to the Prophet
             Muhammad (saas):
... He was a saintly man and a Prophet. Remember
