THE MANTIS
is one of those insects that are created in
harmony with their habitat. They conceal
themselves sometimes on leaves, and
sometimes on branches. The only
weapon they have is the shape and
colour of their bodies. In this way, they
hide from their enemies.
It is quite difficult to distinguish the mantis from the orchid on which it perches.
This mantis looks so similar to the leaf it lies on that the butterfly, which has
come to take nectar from the flower, has not even noticed it. It certainly has
had to pay for this with its life.
