EARWIG, WORKER ANT
Age: 25 million years old
Location: Dominican Republic
Period: Oligocene
Worker ant
In this amber, a worker ant has been fossilized
alongside the earwig. Earwig is the general name
given to insects of the order Dermaptera. Some
1,800 species from 10 different families have been
identified. The most striking feature in all the
fossilized specimens is that, as with other living
things, there has been no change in their structure.
Earwigs have remained unchanged for millions of
years, and constitute one of the proofs that
invalidate evolution.
