Period: Upper Cretaceous

Another proof that living things did not undergo
evolution gradually is the flying fish fossil shown
here. This one lived between 95 and 72 million years
ago, and there is no difference between it and the
flying fish of today. These fish have wing-like
pectoral fins and a long tail which allow them to
glide above the water's surface.
