SLIPPER LOBSTER
Age: 98 million years old
Location: Lebanon
Period: Cretaceous
The slipper lobster (family: Scyllaridae) is a slow-moving
crustacean, about 40-45 cm (15-18 in) long. Slipper lobsters
living today have the same characteristics that they had
millions of years ago. They have not undergone the
slightest change in the intervening millions of years. The
98-million-year-old slipper lobster fossil shown here
corroborates this fact.
