             NAUTILUS

             Age: 114 million years old

             Size: 17 centimeters (6.6 in)

             Location: Madagascar

             Period: Cretaceous, Albian

The nautilus has survived for about 300
million years and has preserved its
             physiological structure during all that
time. The fossil shown here is of a 114-
million-year-old nautilus. The fact that the
creature has not changed for hundreds of
millions of years is living proof that
             evolution never happened.
