MAYFLY LARVA
Age: 156 to 150 million years old
Formation: Yixian Formation
Location: Liaoning Province
Period: Late Jurassic
As short-lived adults, mayflies live only for a few
days, and some even for a few hours. The fossil
pictured belongs to a mayfly larva. Today's mayflies
and those that lived 156 to 150 million years ago are no
different.
