OCTOPUS

                      Age: 95 million years old

                      Location: Hjoula, Lebanon

                      Period: Cretaceous

Octopi, whose high capacity for learning has
been tested in the laboratory, are also masters of
camouflage. This ability depends upon special-
ly created skin cells. Thanks to their skin cells’

ability to change color, become opaque and re-
flect light, they can protect themselves from
danger and also warn other octopi of potential
danger. Some octopi do even more: They camouflage themselves by imitating other sea crea-
tures. These, known as “mimic octopi,” assume the appearance of frightening-looking life
forms such as lionfish and sea snakes.

But could octopi have acquired these features in stages over the course of time, as evolution-
ists maintain? Were the first octopi strange-looking, semi-developed creatures with rudimen-
tary organs, very different from those living today? One of the main ways of determining this
is by examining the fossil record. When we do that, no matter how far back in time we go we
encounter fossil octopi exactly the same as their counterparts living today. This is one of the

main proofs of the invalidity of evolutionist claims. Octopi did not evolve, but were created by
Omniscient and Almighty God, together with all their characteristics.
