Butterflies of the genus Pieris ar-
range their wings at an angle to
collect the Sun's rays in the re-
gions of their bodies most in
need of warmth. This form
of behavior requires a
knowledge of optics.
Human beings use
mirrors and lenses
to focus rays
onto a narrow
area, as these
butterflies
do.
The only reason for Pieris
butterflies being capable
of something that requires
optical knowledge: God in-
spires these insects with
knowledge of how to warm
themselves in the most ef-
ficient way.
