Then He proportioned him and breathed into him from His
[created] soul and made for you hearing and vision and
intellect; little are you grateful. And they say, 'When we
are lost [i.e., disintegrated] within the earth, will we
indeed be [recreated] in a new creation?' Rather, they
are, in the meeting with their Lord, disbelievers. Say, 'The
angel of death will take you who has been entrusted with
you. Then to your Lord you will be returned. 39
The prejudice held by disbelievers hinders them from
comprehending even the most obvious reality. In numerous verses
Allah states that people who deny the Hereafter and assume that
death is their end do not exercise reason:
Have you seen he who has taken as his god his [own]
desire, and Allah has sent him astray due to [His]
knowledge and has set a seal upon his hearing and his
heart and put over his vision a veil? So who will guide him
after Allah? Then will you not be reminded? And they say,
'There is not but our worldly life; we die and live, and
nothing destroys us except time.’ And they have of that no
knowledge; they are only assuming. 40
