69. Fitna Alienates People from the Qur'an

Surat al-An`am, 6:26 speaks of those who keep others away from

the Qur'an. The hadiths also indicate that corrupt manners of thought
will be prevalent before Doomsday comes, and that systems that are
far removed from truth and justice will come into being. These devel-
opments will cause great discord and draw people away from the
ways of God.

Be prompt in doing good deeds [before you are
overtaken] by turmoil [fitna] which would be
like a part of dark night. (Sahih Muslim)

Before the Last Hour, there will be commo-
tions [fitna] like pieces of a dark night in
which a man will be a believer in the morning
and an infidel in the evening, or a believer in
the evening and infidel in the morning. (Sunan
Abu Dawud)
