There are many verses in the Koran in which Jesus (pbuh), Hazrat
Mary, Christians and the Jews are praised. Although a number of false

beliefs that were added onto Christianity only subsequently are cor-
rected in the Koran, the Koran confirms that the true Gospel is a Di-
vine text revealed by God. Christians and Jews enjoy a special status
as the "People of the Book" in the Koran and are Muslims’ allies
against irreligion.
Muslims therefore have a duty to call on the People of the Book
to adhere to the true, uncorrupted Torah and Gospel, to show them the
way, to ensure they become more devout and sincere and to call on
them to believe in God, the One and Only. This is exceedingly impor-
tant in terms of establishing brotherhood, union and unity among
those who believe in God.
