The importance attached to mothers
The station of motherhood is exalted in the Koran. Respect for
one's parents, treating them well and watching over and protecting
them in their elderly years, and at all other times, are responsibilities
particularly imposed on devout believers in the Koran, and there are
several verses on the subject. Some of these are as follows:
We have instructed man to honor his parents,... (Koran, 29:8)
