fied at her torment... and cry out: "Woe! Woe to you, great city, dressed in
fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones and
pearls! In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!" Every sea
captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their liv-
ing from the sea, will stand far off. When they see the smoke of her burn-
ing, they will exclaim, "Was there ever a city like this great city?" They
will throw dust on their heads, and with weeping and mourning cry out:
"Woe! Woe to you, great city, where all who had ships on the sea became
rich through her wealth! In one hour she has been brought to ruin!"...
With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down... (Rev-
                 elation, 18:11-21)
And then the lawless one [antichrist] will be revealed, whom... Jesus will
overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his
                 coming. (2 Thessalonians, 2:8)

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. (Matthew, 5:5)
When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, be-
cause your redemption is drawing near. He [Jesus] told them this parable:
"Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see
for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these
things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near." (Luke,
                 21:28-31)
Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and
its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see
all these things, you know that it [return of Jesus] is near, right at the door.
                 (Matthew, 24:32-33)
... [From now on] the city does not need the Sun or the Moon to shine on
it, for the Glory of God gives it light... There will be no more night. They
will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the Sun, for the Lord God
