If someone is a true Muslim, he has an obligation to desire and
advocate peace. He has a responsibility to build love and affection
among people. If someone is a true Muslim he cannot feel any hatred
for Christians or Jews; these things are unlawful for him. Indeed, a
Muslim has a responsibility to protect even someone who does not be-
lieve, and even at the cost of his own life. This is an attribute of Mus-
lims revealed in the Koran:
If any of the idolaters ask you for protection, give them protection
until they have heard the words of God. Then convey them to a
place where they are safe. That is because they are a people who
do not know. (Koran, 9:6)
According to the Koran, a Muslim has an obligation to protect
anyone who seeks his protection, no matter who they may be. If a
Muslim departs from this moral value, then he is no longer a Muslim.
This is a feature of the fine moral values he must maintain throughout
his life. The hadiths also reveal that Muslims and Christians will forge
