● The Revised Standard version of the Holy Bible (New York,
Glasgow 1971) refers to Jesus as "the son of God" in the first sentence of
the Gospel According to Mark. There then follows a footnote, saying
"other ancient authorities did not include the term (the son of God)."
● The four canonical Gospels contain major discrepancies and
differences. But this variation is not limited to the Gospels in question
alone. There are also major differences between the oldest hand-
written and printed copies of each of these Gospels.
● During the preparation of the standard version of the Gospel,
On the one hand, the Church stresses the unchanging
nature of the Gospels. On the other hand, however, it has
had no qualms about making various additions and sub-
tractions so that the four Gospels would become com-
patible with one another.
