THE ARROGANCE OF SATAN

When they are summoned to Allah and His Messenger,
so that he can judge between them, a group of them
immediately turn away. But if right is on their side, they

come to him most submissively! Is there a sickness in
their hearts or do they have misgivings or do they fear
that Allah and His Messenger will be unjust to them?
No, it is simply that they are wrongdoers. (Surat an-Nur:
48-50)

Hypocrites Cannot Keep Their Minds
Occupied With the Remembrance of Allah

One of the most telling traits of those who have become
arrogant is their failure to keep their minds occupied with the
remembrance of Allah. That is because, praising Allah,
exalting Him, and appreciating His might, makes a person
recognise his own weaknesses and conceive his position as a
servant before Allah. However, this is what most hurts the
pride of the arrogant. They deliberately avoid bringing Allah
to mind, which makes them vulnerable to Satan' s temptations:

Satan has gained mastery over them and made them
forget the remembrance of Allah. Such people are the
party of Satan. No indeed! It is the party of Satan who
are the losers. (Surat al-Mujadala: 19)

Hypocrites Cannot Listen to the Qur' an
These people, infected with Pharaonic arrogance, are also
not disposed to listening to Allah' s Book. Every verse in the
