A Scholar’s First Entry

I feel the sun’s warmth shine through the
curtains in my room, giving me the signal that
it’s time to wake up.

I ache all over from the previous days but
now I’ve rested, I feel a lot better. As I sit up in
my bed, I reach over to the table where I have
a glass and a small vile sat next to it waiting for
me as well as a small plate of bread, butter,
jam and fresh fruit. I eat my breakfast, drink my
water and swallow the contents of the vile,
feeling immediately better. I stretch my arms
above my head, swing my legs round and
stand up before stretching properly to wake my
stiff joints up. I walk over to the dresser to
remove my neatly folded clothing and lay it out
in front of me. As I pull the cloth garments on, I
take a look at my reflection in the mirror and
smile. I pull on my boots, grab my codex, read
briefly from it and feel a sense of relief as the
pain eases off.

I’m still not used to adventuring but it’s
early days yet. My boots are next to go on and
I slide my codex onto the chain waiting for it. I
smile and neatly fix my hair before opening the
heavy oak door and going down into the Caline
Canopy where my friends are waiting for me.

It’s a beautiful day to be adventuring and a
beautiful day to go against the might of the
Garlean Empire.
