REVVING UP

KACIE MASLOWSKI
RELATIONSHIPS

ertainly, mid-Jersey is little more up-tempo than

Joplin, Mo., where Kacie Maslowski grew up. The
same could be said for Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she

attended Coe College. After graduation, a friend went
to pursue her masters at Rutgers and Maslowski fol-

Clowed her east. Then things started to change.
“Uprooting really helped speed things along for me,” she says. “I

was leaving everything that was comfortable. I was moving away
from my family, I had to ind a new immediate support system.

But I discovered that I’m pretty adaptable. The biggest thing I had

to get used to was probably the traic.” In some ways, the lifestyle
Maslowski has in New Jersey is diferent than it was growing up but

in other more signiicant ways, it’s just what’s she’s used to.
Building and maintaining a support system was no daunting task.

It’s something rooted in Maslowski’s DNA. “That’s a big part of what
drives me—to be aware of others and be there for others,” she says.

“It’s just they way we were brought up.” That was on display
when Joplin was devastated by a tornado in 2011. “We saw

people rise up. They were there for each other,” she says. DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
“That wasn’t surprising to see. I’m very proud of my home-

town.” On the business side, Maslowski maintains support
and networking organizations for young professionals. Age: 33
Education: Coe College
She’s president of Edge Networking, a referral based net-
work group she started with Jacqueline Zapicchi. And she’s

the co-chair of the Chamber’s Young Professionals Connective.

“It’s all about who you know,” she says. “We are strengthening
business ties and building relationships with other people that hope-

fully will last 20-30 years.”
Building relationships is also part of her job. Bartolomei Pucciarelli

recently merged into HBK so there’s some rebranding to be done. It’s
an opportunity for Maslowski to use her skills and expertise to in-

troduce businesses to what makes her and the irm stand out. “I walk
down the halls of our oice and see these cool, old pictures of Trenton

hanging on the wall and I can’t help but feel a connection to the peo-
“I don’t feel like a young ple, of what they’ve built here, what they’ve worked for,” she says. “You

look at what my boss, Jim Bartolomei, has built. He’s an entrepreneur
professional because I and he’s honest and direct. We’re thinking from a client’s perspective.

He does it in a way that’s very inspiring and that keeps me motivated.”

When you have no hidden agenda, people will gravitate toward you.”
