THE UNIQUENESS
OF NEWBORNS!
E ach new baby is born with certain
preferences and responses to the world.
Their priority, of course, is to attach to a
parent/caregiver and take in information
from their environment.
When it comes to temperament, every
baby is unique from day one. Temperament
refers to a baby's natural style of responding
to the world around them. Some babies are
naturally more easygoing, while others
might be more sensitive or intense. Factors
like activity level, regularity of biological
functions (like sleep and hunger),
adaptability to change, and intensity of
reactions can all vary widely between
newborns.
This innate temperament interacts with the
baby's environment. The way they are
responded to begins to influence their
perception of themself and their views of
the world.
Understanding a newborn's unique brain
development and temperament can help
parents and caregivers provide the
responsive, nurturing care that supports
their mental wellness. By recognizing and
respecting each baby's individual traits and
needs, we can create an environment that
allows their rapidly growing brains to thrive.
