Student-centered classrooms need to re ect 21st century learning by providing varied resources and tools of learning, as well as having exible seating arrangements that support independent learning and overall campus environment that promotes innovation. A student-centered environment teaches pupils that there are multiple ways to accomplish an individual task. It focuses on what students can do instead of what the teacher knows or has accomplished. Budget 2020 has allocated RM300 million for infrastructure for national schools,, bringing it to RM38, 173 for ech school this year. We need to ask whether creating a learner-directed classroom is feasible with such a budget, while taking into consideration the average ratio of one teacher:40-50 students in one class. Will there be improved facilities and a learning environment that build transferable skills they need for the future? While public education might cost next to nothing, the nation might lose out on developing quality human resources, which is vital for our progression into a highly developed country.
