in European drag racing and at- tracts over 40,000 spectators by day, and the night show drew over 120,000 spectators. The media coverage from this event goes worldwide with the high- light reaching over 1 million views on Facebook.
Kaitlan races a Halfscale dragster with a Blossom super rhino 2.1 enigne. She runs in the Junior Modified Advanced class (7.90 1/8th mile).
One of Kaitlan’s favor- ite racing memories is from the NitOlympx night show in 2018. “Rolling around the corner to a screaming crowd of 50,000 spectators, the goosebumps
went all down my arms and a big smile came across my face, knowing I was there to represent the UK junior dragsters. As we launched, the crowd went wild and there were fireworks every 100ft. This pass was a no/win demonstration pass, so it was great to get to do it just for fun at the biggest drag racing event in Europe before the racing in the semi-finals the next day.” she shared.
Many women compete in drag racing and many of the top racers are women. “I talk regularly with Jndia Erbacher (top fuel dragster) and Leah Kellett (super comp dragster) whom have both inspired and encouraged me with advice and tips for being at the top.” she said.
Kaitlan’s next step up will be at the age of 16, when she will start licens- ing in her super comp dragster, which will run the 1⁄4 mile in 8.80 seconds at 155
mph.
Having fun and making
lots of friends at the track, and Kaitlan’s favorite parts about being involved in racing.
She believes that having patience, a good memory, lots of hope and good sportsman- ship is what it takes to be a suc- cessful race car driver.
This season her race number will be 8. “For junior dragsters, we are given our championship number from the previous season, we cannot choose our own number.”
Kaitlan is not superstitious, but she does have a flower garland on the left roll cage in her car. “This is very special as we all wore these at my Godfather’s funeral and they remind me that he is keeping me safe. I also have a pound coin in my seat for good luck, and it will be going into my new car this year!”
