Chosen by God to bring the Holy Spirit - Peter
On the final day of prayer and fasting we considered our own church family. We prayed for all associated with Oakham Baptist Church to have a strengthening in their faith, and that we would be united as we worshipped and sought God together.
It made me think of Peter, and the way he described the church at its very start - when the public were confused by what it was, and uncertain what it meant. Peter was clear that it was primarily a spiritual entity, intended to provide people with a way to hear the gospel, discover the truth and find their way to salvation through Jesus.
Acts 2 - 14-18
Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
