ROAD RECONSTRUCTION WITH ROADCEM
Following this logic the ideal base for any road construction should have the following
attributes:
● High modulus of elasticity
● High flexibility
At first, these two attributes seem to be very similar, but they are not.
Modulus of elasticity (dynamic modulus) is the parameter which determines what amount of force “F” is needed
to deflect the material. Therefore higher values for the modulus of elasticity are more beneficial, meaning that
force “F” has to be higher to deflect or deform the material.
High flexibility for the road base is needed to compensate for the deformation (or deflection) after loads pass to
avoid damaging effects like rutting, which can also often cause induced reflective cracking in the surface asphalt
layers.
