Getting to Know You; Getting to Know all About YOU!

NEW! Each month we’re going to meet & learn about one of our Specialty Experts. We’re
featuring one of our very first credentialed experts, Doug Grimson, out of HUB Canada West.
1. How long have you specialized in your area of expertise?
a) After growing up on a farm in central Alberta and having insured farms for my
entire career(40+ years), I think I would say that it has been a specialized area for
around 10 years.
2. Why do you think specializing is important?
a) The more you know and understand an industry, the better job can done to
provide the proper coverage. This is one business that there are lots of opportunity for
mistakes/omissions! Most farms require a lot of adjustments throughout the year. It does not
take long for a farmer to know exactly how much you know about their business.
And don’t try to fool them!!! It also makes it a lot easier to
get referrals!
3. What do you think is the most misunderstood about the
Agribusiness & Food space?
a) Farming continues to become more complex each year.
Most of the concerns I hear are about adequate values for
buildings/equipment and how to determine business
interruption limits.
4. What was the best part of your summer?
a) Spending some days camping (glamping) in a couple of
different parts of our beautiful province. We stayed away
from the fires!!
5. When you’re not selling insurance in the Ag industry,
what do you do to relax?
a) My wife and I are avid cyclists and kayakers and not many
days go by without us getting out. We also find a little
time to harass our four grandsons!
