THRUST 1

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

This thrust is part of the agenda to establish UUM’s branding in the global
arena. It relates to the University’s commitment towards accomplishing
Academic Excellence by providing quality teaching and learning to its
stakeholders. With its prime objective of becoming the preferred university
amongst students, this thrust focuses on three dimensions, namely
academic quality, flexible and future-ready learning, and reputation
and international ranking. While the academic quality dimension dwells
on efforts to attract quality students to UUM, flexible and future-ready
learning emphasizes on various exertions towards offering an excellent
learning experience for students. As for the reputation and international
ranking dimension, efforts are concentrated on attaining global recognition
with respect to academic excellence. In order to materialise this thrust,
two main strategies have been developed, namely: (1) strengthening
academic programmes; and (2) increasing stakeholders’ satisfaction. To
measure the achievement of academic excellence, five Key Performance
Indicators (KPIs) and 41 Performance Indicators (PIs) are utilised.
