Jim Armstrong joined us with his two friends, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Stew and Fletcher from Nevada. Jim has been coming for many years and is most definitely part of the Tropic Star family. Jim and Stew released Marlin during their stay meaning that Fletcher is going to have to come with Jim again next year to get his big one. We found the gents in the pool each afternoon enjoying some cocktails and regaling other guests with tales of fish and other stories from their travels.
Terry Clyne and Bob Nicklin from England visited once again to get their fishing fix with us at the Lodge. The Gentlemen spent ten days fishing and it was great getting to catch up with them. They have been coming to the lodge for over two decades and have no signs of slowing down. The pair have become great friends with a lot of the staff. Over the ten days the guys released a stack of Marlin and Sailfish and brought more than enough Dorado and Tuna back to the dock. On one exceptional day the guys released four Blue Marlin and a Sailfish.
Buck Woodruff, Rankin Smith and friends Victor Porter, Wilson Carraway and Mark Demont joined us for our final week of fishing before we closed the lodge. Historically it
is an insane week of fishing and again it
proved to be loads of fun. Half the group
have been fishing for many years and
had more than their share of incredible
stories and trophy catches. It was
satisfying seeing them just as excited
about catching the Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna
and Dorado as the newer anglers that
came with the group. It seemed Rankin’s
boat was flying Marlin flags most days...
but on one special day Buck went out
with his friend Steve Massell and they
got his first ever Marlin. The 1st species
catch is always a special event for any
angler; and sharing in the excitement
with friends is exactly what makes this
sport so great. We enjoy the camaraderie,
competitiveness and friendships that are
made while battling mother nature and incredible sea monsters and the stories that we all share at the end of each day.
