INTRODUCTION

                                                                                              Karingani Game Reserve is a story of resilience, partnership,
                                                                                              restoration, community and collaboration. In keeping with the ancient
                                                                                              majesty of the landscape, a long-term approach to sustainable
                                                                                              conservation has been designed to preserve and protect the land
                                                                                              and its wildlife. The natural beauty of Karingani – an undulating
                                                                                              landscape defined by broad rivers, stands of mopane and rolling
                                                                                              savannah – has inspired visionary conservationists to create a new
                                                                                              model of sustainable partnership which recognises that Karingani’s
                                                                                              neighbours are key stakeholders in the future of this very special
                                                                                              corner of Africa.

                                                                                              Karingani Game Reserve (Karingani) is a private Game Reserve
                                                                                              situated in Southern Mozambique, in the heart of the Greater
                                                                                              Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area, an ambitious conservation
                                                                                              project that spans over 100,000 km  of land in three countries,
                                                                                                                       2
                                                                                              Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Karingani is bordered
                                                                                              to the North by the Parques Nacionale Do Limpopo (PNL), to the
                                                                                              East by community land, to the South by the regions of the Greater
                                                                                              Libombos Conservancy and to the West by South Africa’s Kruger
                                                                                              National Park (KNP). In 2002, these two national parks, along with
                                                                                              Gonarezhou National Park and an area known as the Sengwe-Chipisi
                                                                                              Corridor in Zimbabwe were formally incorporated into a Transfrontier
                                                                                              Park in terms of a treaty signed between the three countries involved.
                                                                                              The treaty also declared a much larger area around the core Park
                                                                                              sector as being targeted for conservation-friendly development, thus
                                                                                              creating the 3,800,000 ha Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation

               November 2020                                                                  Karingani represents the largest privately owned tract of land within
                                                                                              the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area (GLTFCA) and
                                                                                              Mozambique. The scale and diversity of the protected area provides
                                                                                              a varied and unique experience which flows from season to season.
