After a long hour of running and stopping, of slipping sideways and diving under bushes the
girl finally found the soldiers’ camp. The camp was more like a fort and the girl gasped as
she once again saw the immense size of it. A tall wall of sharpened logs stretched high into
the treetops and surrounded the fort to keep feral animals at bay. In the middle of the wall a
steel door was guarded by soldiers that were holding open the doors and checking that
everyone was present and checked off. The girl smiled at the fact that they had finally
stepped up their security as she had often snuck in by dressing up as someone else and not
going back in line in case they noticed something was wrong. Crossing her fingers that a
similar thing wasn’t being held at the back gate she slipped through the trees and around the
wall till she found a set of stairs that led up to a small door at the very back of the fort where
all the weaponry was held. She hurriedly ran up the stairs and was surprised to find the
door was slightly ajar. She shook off the caution that instantly went through her brain and
peered around the door. No guard stood there and there were no other soldiers around. A
little confused but not wanting to believe that anything was wrong she slipped through and
entered the fort.
