“OK,” my father said, suspiciously.
I looked down while I ate my roast potatoes and chicken. It was one of my favorite meals but I
j
could barely eat it. I wasn't ust sad, I was scared,
“What if Red Shoes got me too”, I thought while I stabbed at a piece of lone potato.
“I think it's time that you go have a shower,” my mother said, eyeing my barely touched food.
“OK,” I said leaving the table and entering the bathroom. I grabbed my striped PJs and turned the
hot water on. I stepped into the shower and let the water run down my face as I desperately tried
to wash away the traumatizing events of today, but to no avail. I turned the tap off and got out of
the shower.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The deafening sound of glass breaking echoed around the house. I froze and immediately
hurried to get dressed and grabbed the soap container and held it high over my head, ready to
j
protect myself with it. My parent's voices ring out, “It's OK, it was ust my vase.”
I lowered my chosen weapon and continued to brush my teeth, my heart still racing.
I finished getting ready and walked down the hallway.
“Goodnight”, I said from the top of the stairs but there was answer.
“Mum”, I said my voice filled with nerves. “Dad?” I started to panic. I ran down the stairs, my feet
thumping on every step but there were my parents lying sound asleep on the couch.
I exhaled and continued to make my way back up the stairs. I entered my room, pulled back the
covers, and slid into the doona. I closed my eyes and let sleep wash over me.
2 hours later…
I woke up and gulped down some water, I had an odd feeling of being watched, I looked out my
open window. A large figure was outside my window.
“It must ust be the tree” I thought sleepily, but suddenly I was wide awake. We don't have a tree.

I strained my eyes, trying desperately to see what was outside my window and then I saw it and I
