Memorable moments
Some of my most memorable moments through school have been quite recent.
One of the things I remember particularly was at Camp Koinonia in year 5. It was
my birthday and I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't spend the day with my
family. When we finally got there and checked out our cabin Mrs BC took me
aside to have a chat. I thought it was a little strange that she only wanted to talk to
me but when I went back to the cabin it was all set up with balloons and a happy
birthday banner. Amelie, Abbie & Caitlyn (my friends) had thrown me a surprise
party! This year I was excited to be selected for one of the debating teams and
even with my 3 closest friends. After the competition Miss Eakin asked us to all
come to her room at lunch time but when we got there, there was chocolates,
chips and other treats. We just assumed it was for a teacher’s meeting, little did
we know they were for us.
Proudest moments
I've had a very good 7 years at WRPS and many opportunities but I think one of my proudest moments was
when I got the technology award at the end of year 5. It was a boiling day and years 3 and up were all in the
Lismore High School hall. I was very hot and sweaty waiting for the day to be over. Suddenly the teacher
called my name to receive the award. Other things that I've been proud of have been public speaking finals
three times including this year and being picked for class SRC twice. My most proud moment this year was
when Mrs McKenna told me I was selected to do the Rivers Brainstorm Creative Writing Competition. Which
was a chance to meet for four sessions with an author to improve my writing skills. Unfortunately, due to
COVID before the sessions were finished, it was cancelled.
Special events
School plays were something I'll never forget, the buzz of excitement in the air, the music and the practicing all
leading up to the big night. I've been in three school concerts one in year one with Mr Wheeler. The topic was
countries and my class was Greece. Then in yr3 with Mr Maxwell the topic was colours and my class was gold.
Last but not least Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the topic books in year 5. I was excited to be Veruca
Salt with my great friend Lucy who played the part of Mr Salt. I was also part of the Far North Coast dance
festival on the Gold Coast in yr5. We all had songs from different times, mine being the sixties doing the twist
with Issy. It was very nerve racking up on the stage performing for people that actually paid for tickets! In yr5
our class did a project on countries I studied Israel. I really enjoyed making falafels and hummus to share and
dressing as an Israeli girl.
Things I will miss
Like most people who are moving on to high school I will definitely miss my
friends and the teachers at WRPS. Every teacher that I've had at this school has
been wonderful and I will miss them and their fun ways. I have always enjoyed
the book parade. My favourite costumes were Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz in
yr 2, and Heidi in yr 3. I’ll miss primary school excursions. Yr3 sleepover we had
ice cream and sprinkles and snuck skittles under our pillows while watching Boss
Baby. Yr6 camp was definitely the best, it was even better because we thought
we wouldn't even get a camp this year. I liked zip lining the most and the food
was delicious.
