Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum

Good afternoon and welcome to you
all, for today’s extra preliminary
round of the Emirates FA Cup. It is
the very first round in this historic
cup competition.
A particularly warm welcome to the
supporters, officials and players from
today’s visitors Aylesbury United FC.
I hope they had a good trip down
from Buckinghamshire, they enjoy their time with us and wish them a
safe journey home. This will be the first meeting between the two clubs
and I suspect the first meeting even in Backwell United’s old history.
Please have a look at Aylesbury’s history, it Makes a very interesting
read of many highs and lows but they do have a great record in the FA
Cup. The Ducks currently play at Step 4, in the Southern League Division
One Central, one league above us.

Should the scores be level after 90 minutes then it is a replay on
Tuesday night to be played at Chesham United’s ground, with whom
Aylesbury share.
We are scheduled to visit our close neighbours Clevedon Town on
tuesday, 7.30 kick off.

A week today we welcome Mousehole FC to the Lancer Scott Stadium.
As I write the we are very close to finishing the refurbishment of the
men’s toilets and hoping they will be in use. Later in the programme I
have made an appeal for a few volunteers around the club on a regular
basis. It would be nice for me and some of the committee to actually
come to a home game and watch the whole game. If you know of
anybody who might be able to help please put them in contact with me.
