Today’s Game
Firstly, Cribbs FC would like to extend a very warm welcome to the
visiting players, team management, supporters, and officials of
Shrivenham Town, together with the match officials. We hope that you
enjoy your first ever visit to the Lawns.
Match Reports
This is our second home game in four days after Saturday’s match
against the Gloucester based side Longlevens, who have enjoyed a
decent season and had turned us over at the Sawmills home ground.
Longlevens got their possession game off to a positive start and
fashioned an early chance for their skilful target man to shoot over. This
did not deter Cribbs, and Murray hit the post on six minutes after jinking
past the Longlevens defence before getting his curled shot off.
In the tenth minute we won a corner on our left wing. Josh Bennett
stepped up to swing it towards goal with his trusty right boot, where the
Longlevens keeper let it through his hands and into the net for a Cribbs
lead.
The visitors continued to have significant possession, but their goal
bound efforts were from long range. The better chances fell to Cribbs,
and a heavy touch stopped George Kellow from extending the lead after
he rounded the keeper.
It was one-nil to Cribbs at half time and seemed like it would remain a
tight game. However, Nick Jones, buoyed by his Birthday trip to see the
Lion King, burst down the left wing to cross for Murray to slide home our
second within minutes of the restart.
After 55 minutes the Lawns witnessed a landmark moment as Kellow
picked a pass for Ryan Cainey to run through and slide his shot under
the Longlevens’ keeper for his first ever Cribbs goal. This goal secured
the victory but did not stop the visitors from continuing to test us with
their passing game.
The defence stood firm, and Charlie Dashfield sealed a four-nil victory
after clever work from Bevan Cross down the left.
This Evening’s Opponents
We visited Shrivenham last month and returned with a five-nil victory
with two goals from Jack Fillingham along with further efforts from Nick
Jones, Jake Hodgson and Ryan Crouch.
Shrivenham have lost the three matches since by narrow margins and
currently sit fifteenth of the twenty teams on the division.
As ever, we take nothing for granted in this topsy turvy division and
expect yet another tough match.
As always, get behind the boys!!! UTC
